About Us
Rocky DiGiovanni purchased a farm in 1982 after realizing a life long dream of owning a farm. Rocky’s history with horses included the fact that he was in the last regiment of the Calvary to be dismounted back in World War II.
In 1983, his daughter Ann (who most know as ‘Annie’) graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a bachelors’ degree in Animal Science. Together, along with a lot of blood, sweat and tears, SALTY LANE FARM was established in 1984. Originally a trotter farm with a 12 stall barn and a 1/3 of a mile conditioning track the DiGiovanni’s set out to establish a beautiful, 32 stall facility with a 70 x 145 Indoor arena located on 24 acres in Derry, New Hampshire.
Ann began riding when she was in the 5th grade at a local farm in Concord, Massachusetts. Ann moved into SALTY LANE FARM with her horse A TOUCH OF SALT aka SALTY who was known in New Hampshire and Maine as the 14.2 hand grade horse that ran her heart out in Barrels, Poles and other gymkhana games. Salty and Ann’s history went way back, before gymkhana. Ann and Salty participated in the New England Hunter Trials as well as being a Junior Whipper Whipper-Iin with the Rockingham County Hounds and had the privilege of being invited to fox hunt with Myopia Hunt Club. Ann’s history with horses has encompassed quite a wide variety.

To her credit as of late, she has been an active member of the American Paint Horse Association and the Pinto Horse Association and a Lifetime Member of the American Quarter horse Association as well as New Hampshire Horse and Trail.
In 2003 Ann took two of the horses that were born at SALTY LANE FARM and won a Reserve World Championship with Skip N Hot Sockett and a World Championship with Stylin Hot Sockett. Stylin Hot Sockett who was bred by Ann out of her mare Zippin Hot Sockett went on to win another World Championship Buckle in 2004 and four World Championships and two reserve World Championship Buckles in 2005. Her halter horse A Mighty Striker lead the nation in 2003 at a yearling and has been undefeated since that time in New York as the high High Point Halter Gelding. Ann was also fourth in the World in Poles and 9th in Barrels when she took her horse Painted Snowball to the Paint World Championships in Reno, Nevada. Her PtHA Miniature Horse Stallion, Patchwork Mite Mouse became a a PtHA Champion in 2007.
Ann’s greatest passion and accomplishments come from her boarding business. Ann is proudest when horses leave her farm for a trail ride or a horse show looking in tip top condition.
Since being established SALTY LANE FARM has blossomed into a all discipline, well run professional, professional boarding facility boasting 10 x 12 matted box stalls, individual turnout, a 70 x 145 well vented, well groomed indoor riding ring, a 200 x 200 outdoor riding ring, 1/3 mile conditioning track a, a 60 foot round pen, hot water wash area, water outside year round top, top quality hay that is feed three times a day as well as grain twice a day.
Supplements are fed and medications administered as requested by each boarder with no extra charge. There are obstacles for jumps and trail as well as barrels and poles. There is ample parking for trailers. Ann is proud to keep herself up to date on the latest in nutrition and farm management.
SALTY LANE FARM offers both full and rough board. Full board provides the border the ability to come and ride their mount without having to clean or provide basic care. A rough board client is provided a stall, turn out and full use of the facility but is responsible for providing hay and grain which is feed by the staff at SALTY LANE FARM so that all horses are on the same schedule as well as being turned out and provided lunch. The rough boarder is responsible for clean and maintaining their stall and setting up feed for the following day. As a boarder you have the ability to use your own veterinarian (or the farm veterinarian) as well as your own blacksmith, and other needed and necessary services you and your horse may want or require. We try to cater to the horse and rider while keeping SALTY LANE FARM as relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere where you and your horse want to be.
